wayvy weekly //// [what makes you special?]

A lot of times in contemporary society, we are taught from a position of lack. “You don't have the necessary skills for success, so you need this. You need us. You need to follow the rules. You need to abide by the system.” This is largely untrue. Everything you need and will ever need is already within you.

It is more often than not easier to see the abundance in others before we observe it in ourselves. This skill, among other spectacular traits, is what makes you special. The ability to tend to the light within your soul in the hopes that it will illuminate the path for those coming along after us. We hope against the dying light that our light will be able to even ignite theirs, allowing them to illuminate their own path as well as provide guidance for those they lead.

Every human has the uncanny ability to connect and communicate across impossible barriers and great distances. Time, race, language and even species, you have a superpower built in to your spirit to express yourself and share ideas, creations, victories and losses with whoever or whatever you wish. It is, however, up to you to step into and recognize this incredible ability. To realize how incredible it, and you, are. Your ability to communicate with the deeper, older more resonant frequencies of the earth is undoubtedly what makes you special. And I am extremely excited to see how you wield it.

For the wayvywork of the week this week, we present “Do You Undastando?”, a multimedia piece and one of my personal faves. There are many elements cooperating in this piece to create the overall narrative presented. We have two figures, what appears to be an angel, coloured completely black with blue highlights and headlights for eyes. The figure it is confronting seems to be recoiling almost from the sight, their skin glowing with pink ,orange and brown hues. The bright yellow background filling in the space between them makes me feel like they are communicating on some form of higher plane separate but connected to our own. It almost reminds me of the inner world depicted in Naruto, when he would converse with the Nine Tailed Fox. This angel is within all of us, as the base of its frame becomes a collage of sorts, combining all sorts of spaces, ideas and forms. The speech bubbles stand out to me, the combination of fine art and comics referencing Lichtenstein is a very strong choice, as the words jump out at the audience. “I guess its too late for us, but at least someone else gets out safe” and “Give Me My Strength” are two elements that stand out to me the most, tying the themes presented in the work in a nice neat bow. What do you think? Let me know! I don’t want to just be out here talking to myself yknow. But maybe you’re shy its okay. But don’t forget that your ideas and communicating them to the best of your ability is what makes you special! Until next time, stay wayvy baby <3.
