wayvy weekly <3 [SWARM]

Hellllloooooooooooo. Welcome back to another wayvy weekly. How’ve you been since last week? Ik there’s been a LOT of stuff going on so let’s get right into it, shall we?

Firstly, the word of the week is swarm. Google has several different definitions for the word, but my personal favourite is the rapid movement of a large group of people. I feel like that’s what is needed today to make any kind of lasting, meaningful change. Sometimes I don’t feel like those people in positions of power believe in us. That we can make these meaningful changes, until we swarm their business, swarm their websites and swarm their lives with nothing but evidence to the contrary. They say we don’t like where we are and we’re lashing out. They never acknowledge the injustices we have to experience, have to digest and have to witness and pretend like we co-sign. I don’t, and I never will. When I am telling you that there is no reason for anyone to have to experience these things I do not want to hear what it was like for you growing up and what you had to go through. This is not about you. And while I appreciate the sacrifices that you have made to get us to the point that we are now, it is time for you to let go of that pain and step to the side. The world is shifting. Please, swarm into these new spaces with wayvy so that we can ensure the world shifts in the way that we want it to. The window is closing quickly.

SWARM

Secondly, the wayvywork of this week is also called swarm. I think it speaks to the experience of being a black man in an urban environment. Especially as someone who is not from this culture, I respect it but also see the ways in which it can be improved. The ways in which the culture can be used as a beacon to create change, to want more for yourself and your community. In times of great joy and great injustice, the people swarm the streets to make their voices heard. Soon, it will happen again. Whether through joy or sorrow is up to us. Please.
